This week we learned about the number 7. Special thanks to my talented husband for whipping up this haunted house sketch the night before. The kids took turns matching the 7 ghosts to the right numbers and dots.
We colored pentagons and outlined them with straws. (Side note: Betsy girl insists on sitting in a big kid chair, therefore the older kids take turns sitting in her high chair for projects/lunch. Thankfully, they are usually more than willing).
We studied the letter G by working on worksheets and attempting "G" preztels!
Enjoying our "G" pretzels:
We also made Ghost collages, for the letter G, which I forgot to take pictures of.
The kids have become very fond of the dance dice. And "Dance with a Friend" was the popular roll for the day, yet again. :)
We learned about community helpers; police officers and firemen. We started off by discussing the role of a police officer, learned about stranger danger, and role played a few 911 calls. I did stress to the little ones that they are to only dial 911 if it is an emergency and when no other adult is capable or around to do so. We also role played "Help police officer, my child is missing!". One of them played the police officer and I usually played the mother who had to describe what my missing child looked like. Then the child whom I was describing came up to be the police officer. It was fun.
Below, Jacob runs a red light and receives a ticket from Officers Heidi, Talia and Betsy.
Tristan looks a little upset about the speeding ticket he received from Officer Caitlin. Meanwhile, Talia calls 911 to report the incident.
On Thursday we learned about firemen and discussed fire safety. Below, the kids take turns crawling under the heavy smoke.
If your clothes catch on fire, Stop Drop and Roll!
Or put a blanket over your head.
The tired little group eating their lunch:
It was Jacob's birthday on the 9th! Jacob's mom, Nicky, brought everyone red cupcakes, Jacob's favorite color! Happy Birthday buddy!
Thanks for posting all the pics & info, Shandra! Such great & creative ideas for the police & fireman activities!!
