May 7th was Mexico day! We did the Mexican hat dance. These kids LOVE to dance! A friend of ours, Senior Fairbourn, made our preschool class a video with his High School Spanish class. They taught them how to count to 10 in Spanish. It was awesome and the kids loved it. We talked about why Mexico and the United States celebrate Cinco de Mayo and learned about the Battle of Puebla. They made Mexican flags and we discussed why there is an eagle, sitting on a cactus, eating a snake on the flag. Very interesting!
May 9th was Japan day! (Gosh, I wish I took more pictures). We read several books about Japan and learned about Boy's Day (Or Children's day). In honor of the holiday, we made Japanese Carp Kites. We read a Japanese story called, "Toothpick Warriors". Really cute. We worked on Letters and Sounds and Numbers worksheets.
